The Power Of Positive Affirmations

The Power Of Positive Affirmations

I am ugly. I can’t do it. I am not good enough. These are just some of the negative thoughts that you may be familiar with. These are thoughts that pop into our heads and enable negative situations to become true due to our state of mind. What if we flipped the phrase on its head and only repeated positive thoughts: I’m beautiful, I can do anything I set my mind to, I am more than enough? This is where positive affirmations becomes key to our everyday survival.

A Cycle of Negativity
If we go through life repeating a negative thought then more than likely that negative thing will happen, we may not subconsciously know we are even doing it. Perhaps we have gone through our lives using negative thoughts because we are insecure and believe it’s better to think the worst before someone else does, or perhaps you think that by worrying about something you will stop it from happening.

A Cycle of Negativity

When used correctly and frequently, positive affirmations can change a person’s life from being negative to one that is full of great opportunity and hope. Our subconscious will start to believe the thoughts that are repeated over time, so why not choose positive ones. For example, say you are going for a job interview. From the moment you wake up to when you are waiting anxiously in the waiting room to when you are trying to convince someone that you are right for the job, a thought like, “I am good enough” will not only help you to believe in yourself on the outside but without you knowing it will exude confidence on the outside. Your interviewer will see this; positivity is contagious, if you’re feeling it so are the people around you.

Have you ever wanted to lose weight and you just feel it is never going to happen. You feel that you are too fat and this is the way you will be forever. If you keep repeating those affirmations then you are sure to stay that way. How about repeating to yourself: “I am beautiful,” “I am worthy,” “I can do this my way.” Without consciously knowing it your diet or healthy eating will come more naturally as you will have not put the negative pressure on yourself.

Have you ever wanted to lose weight

It is important to make positive affirmations a daily thing. You can’t begin a positive existence or expect negative situations to change if you do not practice positive affirmations daily. Make sure your positive affirmations are not too wordy or long as this will help you to stick to them and be able to remember, like a mantra. For example, if you want to create a self-confidence you could pick an affirmation like “I am worthy,” “I am lucky,” “I am intelligent.”’ If you are wanting a better relationship with someone you may choose: “I am a good friend,” “she/he is in my life for a reason,” “I am fun to be around.” The more you say these affirmations the sooner you will start to believe them and you won’t have to repeat them anymore they will be engrained in your thought process.

Some people benefit from visual aids. It may help you to write your affirmations down and put them up around your house so you are constantly reminded to think positively. You could even make a vision board that includes visual reminders of your positive affirmations. For example if you are feeling you can’t do something, perhaps paste images of the thing you want to achieve with positive words surrounding it. This visual aid will then be imprinted in your mind.

So, why not start today? Positive affirmations could change your life for the better and don’t cost a dime!
