For many, aloe vera is a miracle plant with incredible medicinal properties and nutritional benefits as well as soothing characteristics for the skin. Although it looks like a cactus, aloe vera is a succulent plant that is part of the Liliaceae family, related to the garlic and onion, and has both internal and external applications.

Not only is aloe vera great in smoothies and salads but you can also use it to make beauty products for the skin or to heal burns. It contains vitamin A, B and C as well as minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium and zinc, boasting antiseptic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. When ingested it is also said to help with digestion and boost your immune system.
