Why you should eat avocados

Why you should eat avocados

Avocado is a unique fruit. While many other fruits contain carbohydrates, avocados contain healthy fats that are good for you. Research has been carried out which shows that avocados are an excellent healthy fruit, not only for your skin and organs but as a great source of energy and to regulate your digestion. Avocados are delicious in guacamole dips, as toppings for salads, in smoothies, wraps and many more recipes. So, why is this pear shaped fruit so great?

Packed with Vitamins

In each serving of avocado (per fruit) there is almost twenty different minerals and vitamins that you will receive, which includes potassium that is great for your blood pressure, folate, which is great for cell repair and during pregnacy, and lutein, which is beneficial for your eyes. Avocados also provide you with Vitamin B, which keeps disease and infections away. Furthermore, avocados provide you with Vitamin E and C, and other natural ingredients that aid in preventing cancer.

Excellent for Dieting and a Healthy Heart

Research suggests that individuals who add just half a fresh avocado to their lunch menu, were able to sustain hunger pains for over three hours, which is excellent for dieting. Avocados are low in sugar too. Some individuals worry about eating avocados, because they are high in fat, but the fat that they contain is monounsaturated fat, which is a healthy, good fat that is wonderful in lowering cholesterol. You just want to make sure to not overdo it when you are eating avocados to avoid weight gain. It is also shown that by eating avocados in moderation, you can reduce heart disease and lower cholesterol.

Antioxidants

Avocados are packed with a variety of antioxidants that are great for you and your body. Avocados contain beta-carotene, alpha carotene, and beta-crypotoxanhin, along with violaxanthin, chrysanthemaxanthin, neochrome, and neoxanthin. These antioxidants protect your cells from all types of diseases, including cancer. One of the strongest carotenoids are located right under the skin of the avocado, so you should make sure you eat this, scrapping all the green pulp from inside the avocado skin.

Simply Delicious

Last, but surely not least avocados taste delicious. Avocados taste great by themselves, or in a dip like guacamole, or added to a salad. Avocados have a smooth buttery flavor that people love, and babies should eat them too because of all the vitamins, minerals, and benefits that they provide for them.
